Royce Micro-Cap
Historical Performance
Objective And Strategy
ObjectiveLong-term growth of capital.
StrategyRoyce & Associates, LLC, the Fund's investment advisor, invests the Fund’s assets primarily in equity securities of micro-cap companies, a universe of more than 5,300 companies with market capitalizations up to $500 million. Royce generally focuses on micro-cap companies that it believes are trading significantly below its estimate of their current worth, basing this assessment chiefly on balance sheet quality and cash flow levels. Normally, the Fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in the equity securities of micro-cap companies. Although the Fund normally focuses on the securities of U.S. companies, it may invest up to 25% of its net assets in foreign securities.
Principle Risks
* This portfolio invests (or may invest) in securities of companies with micro-, small-, or mid-capitalization. Any investment in micro-, small-, or mid-capitalization companies involves greater risk than that customarily associated with investments in larger, more established companies because of the greater business risks of smaller size, limited markets and financial resources, narrower product lines, and frequent lack of management depth. As such, micro- or small-cap companies may be more subject to erratic and abrupt market movements than securities of larger, more established companies.
