Objective And Strategy
ObjectiveLong-term growth of capital.
StrategyRoyce Small-Cap Portfolio’s investment goal is long-term growth of capital. Royce and Associates, LLC, the Fund's investment advisor, invests the Fund’s assets primarily in equity securities of small-cap companies, those with market capitalizations from $500 million to $2.5 billion. Royce generally looks for companies that have excellent business strengths and/or prospects for growth, high internal rates of return and low leverage, and that are trading significantly below its estimate of their current worth. Normally, the Fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in the equity securities of small-cap companies. Although the Fund normally focuses on the securities of U.S. companies, it may invest up to 25% of its net assets in foreign securities.
Principal Risks
* This portfolio invests (or may invest) in securities of companies with micro-, small-, or mid-capitalization. Any investment in micro-, small-, or mid-capitalization companies involves greater risk than that customarily associated with investments in larger, more established companies because of the greater business risks of smaller size, limited markets and financial resources, narrower product lines, and frequent lack of management depth. As such, micro- or small-cap companies may be more subject to erratic and abrupt market movements than securities of larger, more established companies.
